Oleksa Romanyk (Ukrainian: Олекса Романик) was born in Lyskiv (Лисків, Lyskov), Ukraine, Mar 21, 1912, about 10 miles south east of Stryi ( also known as Stryy, Stryia, Stryj and Stry) in the Zhidachevskiy region. The distance from “L’viv, Ukraine to Stryi is about 50 miles south on route M-12.

Oleksa was taken captive by German soldiers during WW2. Oleksa’s father was Oleksa Romanyk, born Austria, birthdate unknown.

My grandfather was named Miguel (Michat) Romanyk, was born in Pawlokowa or Pawlokoma and traveled to Argentina in 1930 with my grandmother Marja Mudryk. He is my father’ brother and he live with his wife in the same country of my father.

Where do you live ? I ‘m very happy to found the mail address because I don’t know anything about my grand parents. My grandfather name was Romanyk  Joseph the same as my uncle and he was died in 1967, and his father was Romanyk Paul  and I don’t know  anything about his life in Ukraine.

His mother is Levka (Eleanor) Chaikovsky  [ Chajkowskyj or Czajkowskyj ] B: June or Sept. 6, 1904 in Staryi Sambir, Western Ukraine. One of 5 or 6 brothers and sisters Emigrated to Canada 1928. Greek Catholic. Orest was an only child, and I am an only child. My father and I would like to find out about our Ukrainian ancestry, and if there are any other relatives from our line.

Anyone know about: Oleksa Romanyk who was born in Lyskiw, Poland, Mar 21, 1912, near Stryg. He married Anna Hryciw  May 23, 1947 at Wolkering, Germany. His father was Oleksa Romanyk who was born in Austria, date unknown. Wife Anna Hryciw (or Hrycw) was born: July 17, 1921 in Wolabaranecka, Poland and Lived in Sambir until 1942 and then moved to Germany in 1942. Her mother (Katherine Hrycw) died in Sambir sometime during 1935-1937. Anna’s  Brother was named Oleksa Hrycw who lived in Volja-Baranecka , Poland.

The reason your search on the Ukrainian - Russian phonebook website did not find Romanyk was because you need to enter the name using Ukrainian letters. So Romanyk would be Романик

You can quickly learn the alphabet and many common words with an inexpensive language manual
Once you have a grasp of the alphabet you would enter the Ukrainian letters into a Ukrainian Keyboard to make the Ukrainian name or word. Then copy/paste the name from the keyboard into a document, website entry, etc.
